Most possibly, nothing will happen to you. But, your disobeying your previous words will cause some problems to the department. For example, your action will make another applicant loses his opptunity to be admitted, and your action will also make the department loses the funding assigned to you (if you are funded).

Peronally, I do think it is never a good idea to go back on your words.

本人在申请研究生，已经收到一个学校的offer了，过几天就是要求回复的截至日期，不答复就算拒绝。我想先答复同意去，同时继续等其他学校的。问题是，如果收到其他学校的offer，比第一家的条件好，不去第一家而是去后来的学校的，第一家学校会采取什么样的措施？会有什么后果？它会通知其他学校嘛？（学校都是加拿大的大学）
请有相同经历的指教一下，自己写一封深刻的道歉信表示歉意？
