As you are probably aware, there are discussions across the country regarding unification of the accounting profession under the chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation.
In Ontario, the leaders of the three accounting bodies have committed to resolving concerns regarding unification and will re-enter discussions with the anticipated outcome being a unification agreement that protects the public interest while benefitting all members of the accounting profession and those who aspire to enter the profession in the future.
What does this mean to you, as someone studying to become a CGA? CGA Ontario will continue to offer a program of studies that provides you with the knowledge and skills you need to become a profssional accountant. The credential you earn will fully be recognized. Upon completion of the requirements of the CGA program of studies, you will have your professional accounting designation.
