Location: Port Mellon, B.C.
I. GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
To be responsible for providing management with accurate and timely cost information for the mill operations. To ensure that all accounting information is reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and with Company policies and procedures
II. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:
Cost Accounting
1. Ensure that the accuracy, timeliness and quality of reporting is maintained to acceptable standards.
2. Record and analyze all direct production costs. Communicate budget variances and trends to management.
3. Maintain chart of accounts
4. Prepare chart data for Manager’s Report
5. Maintain RM supply report system.
6. Calculate and allocate shared production and energy costs between several grades of products.
7. Evaluate cost control procedures and recommend improvements.
8. Prepare and distribute monthly income statement, cost reports and variance analysis
9. Prepare Price annual survey of manufacturing.
10. Maintain quality service to and effective communication with local and management regarding inventory flows of raw materials and major supplies, as well as energy consumption.
11. Prepare audit reports and backup for tax files
12. Relieve Operations Accountant during absences
13. Perform other duties as assigned
Planning
1. Prepare mill direct cost budgets for annual business plan. Complete Section 5 analysis.
2. Prepare RM and energy cost forecasts for monthly outlook, quarterly forecasts and long term plans.
Accounting Systems
1. Develop and maintain Excel accounting models
2. Develop and maintain Walker reports and account analysis
3. Develop and maintain Excel planning models
4. Provide PC department software training and troubleshooting
III. KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports on a Line Basis to: Divisional Controller
V. AUTHORITY
VI. QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of 4th year level and continued enrolment in the CA, CMA or CGA accounting program.
Four years related experience
